1 Lydian electrum 1/3 stater struck in the 2nd quarter of the 7th century B.C. This coin is among the earliest produced and set the initial pattern for the production of coins in the West. The designs of the earliest coins are closely related to designs used in seals–the same craftsmen were probably employed to produce the engravings.
